Charismatic Gift of Photography | Camara | Monday, June 23, 2008 |
Question: Something strange has been going on since I started receiving the Eucharist daily. (well, almost daily) I feel compelled to take pictures and see things in a different light. I see meanings in little things that I didn't see before. I don't take 3 shots per second like the pros do, I just take two, maybe three at the most of one subject because my hands tend to shake as a medication side effect. I bought a do-it-yourself book at a yard sale for $0.25 on digital cameras and learned the basics, and I lived with a photographer in 1975 for a few months and leared some pointers, but I have no formal education or training in potography. I get so much joy in taking them, and I want to give this gift to the Church and seek nothing for myself. Is this a real gift or am I full of pride? http://www.flickr.com/photos/br_dymphna/ |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Camara: A gift for photography is not a charismatic (spiritual) gift. Spiritual gifts are supernaturally sourced and are designed to build-up the Church. God may have given you a natural talent for photography. This is also a grace and one that you can praise God for. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
