Question: Should I be using the 1970 translation of the NAB, when I'm using gospels for the vigils from the commons, or can I use a newer NAB translation? I've been using the NAB translation used in the Daughter's of St. Paul Missal. Hopefully this is OK otherwise I'd have to waste a lot of time, energy and money buying an old, out of date lectionary, bible or missal in order to say these prayers. |

Dear Mike: All the Gospel readings are included in the Divine Office books and thus it is not necessary to use outside texts. Nevertheless, it is permitted to use the Lectionary for the readings. Thus, you would need to use the current translation(s) approved for the Lectionary. As far as I know, the Daughter's of St. Paul Missal would be fine. God Bless, |
