Question Title Posted By Question Date
Evening Prayer for Ordinary Time Rob Tuesday, August 17, 2004

Question:

I have been praying the Morning Prayer and Compline for about 6 months now. A few weeks ago, I decided to add Evening Prayer to my daily prayers. The first time a Sunday occurred in Ordinary Time, when I went to the Proper of Seasons for the concluding prayer, I could not find it under that particular Sunday. It appears that this is true for all Sundays in Ordinary Time, for both Evening Prayer I and Evening Prayer II. The prayer is there for Morning Prayer, but not for Evening Prayer. What do I do?

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM+

Dear Rob:

The concluding prayers for Evening Prayer I, for example, on this coming Sunday, the 21st Sunday in Ordinary time, in the 4 vol edition, is in the Proper of Seasons for the 21st Week on page 150.

For the Evening Prayer II, use the prayer for the Morning Office. Whenever one is directed to the Proper of Seasons for the concluding prayer and there is no prayer for that particular office, the Morning Prayer is to be said.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
