Question:

Dear Bro. Ignatius Mary,

I am writing for two reasons. First of all, I want to send my thanks for your Question and Answer Forum that you have available. This forum has been a tremendous help in my "graduation" from the One Volume Christian Prayer to the 4 Volume complete set. I started out just reciting the morning, noon, evening, and night prayers, but I wanted more. I wanted to participate in the Office of Readings, so I purchased the complete set. Now througout my stressful work day, I can always find peace participating in the Divine Office. No matter what time of day it is, there is always time to pray and praise. 7 times a day do I praise the Lord!

Secondly, I have one question (for now). In reciting the office individually, is it proper to stand and sit at the appropriate times, or is there some flexibility with the reverent act? I say this because while I work, Im usually in my car at lunch, and it's rather hard to stand.

That's all I have to say. You have been a big help in teaching me the LOH. I'm still waiting for your tutorial, but I think that once it's available, I will be very knowledgeable with the Office. =)

God Bless You,

Joseph

Dear Joseph:

I praise God that this forum has been helpful to you.

In recitation outside of choir it is not required to perform the postures. That is especially the case if one is on a bus, plane, automobile, etc. In fact standing, sitting, bowing in a bus or plane would likely get you arrested and in a automoble (assuming one is not driving) would be impossible, and if driving, get one arrested, or killed :)

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
