Our Father | Michael | Thursday, January 13, 2005 |
Question: I noticed in another answer you stated to say "Amen" at the end of the "Pater Noster". One might note that in the Official Latin edition when it writes out the "Pater Noster" in the ordinary it does not include "Amen" at the end. I think the reason is the same as at Mass. The prayer continues. In Lauds and Vespers it states to say the Concluding Prayer immediately without saying "Oremus." One would conclude the Church is wanting us to carry over the prayer of the "Pater Noster" over to the Concluding Prayer just as in Mass the "Pater Noster" is carried on by praying "Deliver us, Lord...etc." Just my opinion. Pax tecum. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Michael: I do not recall saying that the Amen concludes the Our Father. If I said that I was wrong. The Our Father is said and the concluding prayer immediately follows has you have described. Thanks for the heads up on the mistake. God Bless, |
