LOBVM substituting texts | Michael | Thursday, December 23, 2004 |
Question: Morning and Evening Prayer for the LOBVM are rich in text but the other offices are too repetitive to say daily. What are the rules, if any, regarding substitution of texts for the LOBVM? |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Michael: As mentioned in the last post, I think you need to use either the LOBVM or the Divine Office for any particular Hour and not mix them within the same Hour. If you want to use the LOBVM for the Morning and Evening prayers and the Divine Office for the Day Prayers that is fine. But, with all due respect, what you are calling repetitive is part of the beauty of those Day Offices. If you find the Day offices too repetitive to pray daily, and since these Day Offices are not required for you, then perhaps you should avoid the Day Offices and stick to the Morning, Evening, and Night prayers.
