Which art or Who art | Charles | Monday, January 31, 2005 |
Question: Since you are a convert and previously a Baptist minister, I thought you would be in a better position to answer this than anybody else. I hope I placed it in the right forum. Most protestants when praying the Our Father say. "which art in heaven". However, Catholics say "who art in heaven". Which (and no pun intended) is correct? Why the difference? Thank you and God Bless and you, your apostolate, and your mother are in my prayers. |

Dear Charles: This is only a matter of translation. Below are several translation and the way they render that passage: King James Version = "which art in heaven" The Latin text reads, qui in caelis. This can be translated either who/which in heaven Thus there is no difference in meaning, just a different rendering in translation. God Bless, |
