re: Helping a friend understand my Faith | Mark | Friday, November 12, 2004 |
Question: Brother Ignatius, I am trying to catch up on the posts on your website and read the question and answer from Nicole about her Jewish friend who went to a Catholic funeral. The story told by the Priest was from Luke 20: 27-38 and relates Jesus telling the story to prove life after death. This was the Gospel reading this past Sunday, November 7th. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM+
Dear Mark: Thanks for the reference. Here is the text for Luke 20:27-38:
The tradition of the brother marrying a dead brother's wife mention in this passage in Luke is described in the passages of Deuteronomy that was discussed in the previous post. In any event, this tradition does not make Jews inferior as was alleged. God Bless, |
